Siliguri, 01st April: In an effort to reduce road congestion behind Siliguri District Hospital, the traffic police recently removed the ambulance and hearse stand. However, the emergence of an unauthorized e-rickshaw stand in the same location has caused new problems for the public.
On Tuesday, ambulance drivers expressed their discontent, highlighting the difficulties they now face. According to the drivers, the absence of designated parking spaces around the hospital is making it increasingly difficult to bring patients in and take them out. Additionally, the road has become almost blocked due to the e-rickshaw stand. Ambulance drivers questioned why the same action taken against their stand is not being enforced for the e-rickshaw drivers.
The ambulance drivers raised their concerns with the traffic police, and when the police arrived at the spot, the e-rickshaw drivers moved away. Despite this, ambulance drivers are demanding a permanent solution to the issue.
They have called for designated parking spaces to be arranged for ambulances and hearse vehicles around the district hospital, ensuring smooth emergency services.
