Jalpaiguri, 05th August: Subhash Roy, a toto driver and a resident of Raipara under Jalpaiguri Municipality 2, committed suicide by drinking alcohol mixed with poison.
It has been learned that Roy had been suffering from alcohol addiction for a very long time. Failing to overcome the addiction even after numerous attempts, he eventually chose to end his life by mixing poison with alcohol and then drinking it.
Biplob Roy, son of the deceased, said that he had told his father to give up alcohol. Instead, his father drank poison-mixed alcohol to end his life. After the incident, he was rescued and taken to hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
