Siliguri, 30th September: Uma Goswami, secretary of the Trinamool Kisan branch and a member of the state committee was detained and taken to the NJP police station before she could stage a dharna in front of Siliguri Uttar Kanya.
The Chief Minister, on Wednesday, held an administrative meeting with the officials of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Cooch Behar districts. During which, Uma Goswami, a resident of Alipurduar, declared to stage a dharna outside Uttar Kanya’s gate. She was then detained by the women’s police officials.
It is to be noted that during a press conference two days ago, Uma Goswami stated that in the year 2009, she was sent from the Alipurduar DLO office to the Jalpaiguri DLO office on the pretext of being provided with a job in the library.
She further alleged that a certain amount was also demanded from her in this concern. Despite giving some money, she was not employed in the said job. Following this, she tried to meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in various ways but all her efforts went in vain
