Siliguri, 16th December: Nine days after Ulen Roy’s death, his family finally returned home with his body. The BJP activists paid their last respects to him.
It is to be noted that BJP activist Ulen Roy lost his life during the Uttar Kanya Abhiyan on December 07. The deceased’s family members and BJP leaders alleged that Roy was shot dead by the police. The family also approached the court demanding a second autopsy. Although the autopsy was not allowed for the second time, the initial report clearly states that Ulen Roy died due to shotgun injuries.
Finally, 09 days after his death, Ulen Roy’s family and the BJP leaders and supporters of Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri district rushed to the morgue of the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital to take the body in compliance with the court’s order. They also staged a protest against administrative delay. The family then left for Gajoldoba along with the body.
Bapi Goswami, a family member, and Jalpaiguri district BJP president expressed outrage over Ulen Roy’s death and stated that BJP, after coming to power, will take revenge for Ulen Roy’s death.
