Naxalbari, 05th June: Naxalbari police arrested two youths with 23 grams of brown sugar during a late-night operation on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Shohan Lamjel and Jigmi Tamang, both residents of the Darjeeling Sadar area.
According to police sources, the duo had purchased the narcotic substance from Panitanki in Kharibari and were en route to Darjeeling on a motorcycle. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted them at Jabra Mode in Naxalbari and recovered the contraband during a search.
The two have been arrested under the NDPS Act, and their motorcycle has also been seized. On Thursday, they were produced in Siliguri court. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case to trace the source and network behind the drug supply.
