Kharibari, 07th November: In a foiled attempt at animal trafficking, the Kharibari police successfully apprehended two miscreants with 38 cattle from the Chakkamari area along the Bengal-Bihar border in Kharibari. The accused smugglers have been identified as Kitab Ali (43) and Ajay Das (25), both residents of Dalkhola.
According to reports, during naka checking at Chakkamari on Monday night, a truck was held and searched based on suspicion. During the search, about 38 cattle were recovered from the truck. Upon interrogation, the truck driver and co-driver could not display any valid documentation pertaining to the recovered cattle. Subsequently, both the driver and his companion were arrested.
On Tuesday, both the accused were produced before the Siliguri court. At present, the entire incident is under further police investigation.
