Fulbari, 27th June: One person was killed and two others were injured in two separate road accidents that occurred late Friday night in Fulbari, near Siliguri. The incidents took place in the Jiaganj and Battalion More areas.
According to reports, the first accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. in Jiaganj when a milk tanker collided with a large cargo trailer. The front cabin of the tanker was severely damaged, trapping the driver inside. New Jalpaiguri police reached the scene and managed to extract the driver after considerable effort, but he was declared dead.
About an hour later, a second accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near Battalion More, where an oil tanker rammed into a cargo vehicle. The impact damaged the front of the cargo vehicle, leaving the driver trapped. Police and fire brigade personnel rescued him after a prolonged effort. He sustained serious injuries, while the assistant driver also suffered injuries. Both were admitted to a nearby hospital.
The damaged vehicles in both incidents have been removed and taken to the police station. New Jalpaiguri police have initiated an investigation into both accidents.
