Two Rohingyas and one youth arrested from NJP station

Siliguri, 29th May: Two Rohingyas were nabbed at the NJP station in Siliguri. A youth from Assam was also arrested. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rukia (21) and Azida (20) and the Assam youth’s name is Zahirul Islam (20).


The three were apprehended from the Kanchenjunga Express at NJP station on Saturday morning. After questioning them, it was learned that the two young women had escaped from the Rohingya camp in Bangladesh Cox’s Bazar. They met Zahirul on their way, who was taking them to Kolkata on a train.

It was further learned that the youth was taking them to Kolkata on the pretext of providing them jobs. The arrested individuals have been handed over to the NJP police on behalf of GRP and RPF. They are being interrogated by the police.
