Siliguri, 23rd November: Panic spread in Siliguri’s Dakshin Ektiasal after two robbers fled with a bag full of jewellery from a local jewellery store in broad daylight.
According to sources, Sujoy Pal, the shop owner, arrived at his store around 11 am on Sunday as usual. He left a bag full of jewellery inside the shop while stepping outside to carry out some cleaning work. At that moment, two men on a motorcycle entered the shop, grabbed the bag, and fled the scene.
Local residents attempted to chase the robbers, and a car was used in the pursuit, but the criminals managed to escape. The Ashighar police were immediately informed and reached the spot to begin an investigation.
Shop owner Sujoy Pal stated that the CCTV footage could not capture the incident properly as the storage was full. He also added that the shop had previously been targeted twice when the tin roofing was cut for theft, and he never expected such an incident to occur again.
The incident has created fear across the locality, and the police have started searching for the culprits.
