Siliguri, 24th June: Matigara police apprehended two individuals in connection with a case involving fraud related to a flour manufacturing company. The suspects have been identified as Sagar Chowdhary and Kailash Taparia, both residents of Bagdogra. According to police sources, Sagar Chowdhary placed an order for 25 bags of flour from salesman Nites Sahni of Shree Bhagwati Agro Private Limited. The company dispatched the order to Sagar Chowdhary’s given address in Matigara on June 15.
However, it is alleged that Sagar Chowdhary failed to make the payment for the goods despite receiving them. Instead, he sold the items to another businessperson in Bagdogra. The company made multiple attempts to contact Sagar Chowdhary but was unsuccessful. Subsequently, Nites Sahni, the company’s salesman, filed a written complaint at Matigara police station regarding the incident.
Based on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and first interrogated Bikash Mahanto, the driver of the goods vehicle. Bikash’s statement led the police to Sagar Chowdhary, during whose interrogation the name of Kailash Taparia surfaced. The police recovered the 25 bags of flour from Kailash Taparia’s possession. Today, both suspects were presented in Siliguri court after a case of cheating was registered against them. Further investigations are underway.
