Siliguri, 01st September: The Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police arrested two drug smugglers with brown sugar from the Milan More area on Wednesday evening. The two accused have been identified as Sudeep Gupta and Masoom Sheikh, residents of Baghajatin Colony and Kaliachak respectively.
SOG team seized 275 grams of brown sugar from both the accused. The market value of which has been estimated at crore of rupees. According to the information, SOG received a tip-off about the exchange of drugs which was going to take place in the Milan More area under Pradhan Nagar police station jurisdiction.
After this, the SOG along with the Pradhan Nagar police station launched a campaign in the said area. During this, when Masoom Sheikh met Sudeep Gupta to peddle drugs, both were nabbed red-handed. The duo was arrested after registering a case under the NDPS Act in the presence of the Deputy Magistrate. Today, the police of Pradhan Nagar police station produced both the accused in the Siliguri court.
