Two more arrested in Rajganj land dispute case, total three in police custody

Rajganj, 08th January: Police have arrested two more individuals in connection with a tense land dispute in the Bandhunagar area of Rajganj. Acting under the supervision of OC Sudip Dutta of Bhorer Alo Police Station, officers conducted a raid in the Bandhunagar locality on Thursday morning and took the two accused into custody.


The arrested individuals have been identified as Rafiq Hussain and Sonarul Haque, both residents of Sitaguri. Their involvement in the ongoing investigation of the land dispute was established during the inquiry. Both accused were produced in Jalpaiguri District Court on Thursday.

The dispute concerns land adjacent to Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle sales and service center, “Lakshya Automobile Private Limited.” Tensions had escalated in the area over the matter, with reports of property damage, locking of the showroom, and threats to life.


One individual had already been arrested in connection with the case yesterday. With the latest arrests, a total of three people are now in police custody. The police continue a thorough investigation into the matter.
