Siliguri, 22nd January: Police from Ashighar Outpost have arrested two minors in connection with a bag-snatching incident in the Chayan Para Power House area. The incident occurred on the night of 20th January when Rita Pandit was returning home after work.
According to police sources, as she was walking along a secluded path behind Chayan Para Power House, two unidentified miscreants blocked her way under the cover of darkness and attempted to snatch her bag. When she resisted, one of the accused allegedly attacked her hand with a sharp weapon and fled the scene with the bag.
The injured woman immediately reported the incident to Ashighar Outpost. Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested the two minors, who are reportedly residents of Tikiapara, Siliguri.
The police have recovered the stolen bag and cash from the accused. Both minors were presented before the Jalpaiguri Juvenile Court on Thursday. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
