Siliguri, 16th April: Advertisement boards were being stolen one after another in Siliguri city, prompting several verbal complaints to Siliguri police station. However, the incidents continued despite police efforts to catch the culprits.
Finally, the persistence of the undercover cops from Siliguri police station paid off. Reportedly, on Tuesday night, police arrested two individuals from the Tikiapara area in connection with the advertisement board thefts. The accused have been identified as Bittu Das and Vicky Biswas.
During preliminary interrogation, the duo revealed that a gang operating in the city had been specifically targeting advertisement boards at night for theft. The police suspect that the stolen boards were being sold to fund drug purchases.
On Wednesday, both accused were presented in Siliguri court. Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
