Kharibari, 03rd January: Two youths were killed and another sustained serious injuries after a motorcycle rammed into an electric pole on the Kharibari state highway.
The deceased have been identified as Biswajit Barman and Ranadeep Roy, while the injured youth is Surya Singh, a resident of the Panitanki area under Kharibari.
According to sources, the three friends were travelling from Naxalbari towards Buraganj when the rider reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to crash into an electric pole. The impact threw all three riders onto the road.
Local residents rushed them to Naxalbari Hospital, where two of the youths were declared dead. The injured youth was later referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for further treatment. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area.
