Rajganj, 28th September: An incident of mishap surfaced from the Bhutkihaat area of Rajganj in which two individuals were severely injured in a bus-scooty collision. The injured have been identified as Ayub Ali and Hamidar Ali, residents of the Birban area of Ambari. Following the incident, an agitated mob set the bus on fire.
As per local sources, at around 11 a.m. on Thursday, a bus was heading towards Siliguri from Falakata, during which, it rammed into a scooty in the Bhutkihaat area. As a result, the two occupants of the scooter fell into the road and the two-wheeler was stuck under the bus. To evade the situation, the driver drove the bus further ahead. However, the locals initiated a chase and stopped the bus at Gandar More. The passengers evaded the bus fearing the prevailing situation. Subsequently, the agitated crowd vandalized the bus and set it on fire.
Meanwhile, the injured were rushed to a private hospital in Fulbari. Upon receiving the news of the incident, Ambari Outpost Police, NJP Police, and a large contingent of Rajganj police arrived and brought the situation under control. In addition, an engine from the Fulbari Fire Station also arrived at the spot and extinguished the inferno.
