Two, including BJP leader’s son, arrested in theft case in Siliguri

Siliguri, 17th April: Two individuals have been arrested by Siliguri police in connection with a theft case that took place in Vidyasagar Colony of Ward No. 07. The arrested individuals have been identified as Raj Chowdhury and Mithun Sarkar. Notably, Mithun Sarkar is reportedly the son of a BJP leader and was arrested on charges of purchasing stolen goods.


According to police sources, the incident came to light after Yogi Tiwari, a resident of Vidyasagar Colony, returned from Bihar on Wednesday and found his house ransacked with several items missing. Tiwari immediately lodged a theft complaint at Siliguri police station.

Acting on the complaint, police began an investigation and arrested Raj Chowdhury in connection with the theft. During interrogation, Raj revealed that the stolen items had been sold to Mithun Sarkar.


Upon further inquiry, the police learned that Mithun Sarkar is the son of a BJP leader. He was subsequently arrested for buying stolen items. Both accused were produced in Siliguri court on Thursday as investigations continue.
