Siliguri, 16th November: Two individuals, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the mysterious death of Pushpa Chhetri. The Bhakti Nagar police arrested a man and a woman nine days after the incident on charges of murder.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rustam Vishwakarma and Pratika Paudel, both residents of Malbazar. Rustam had been living in Siliguri for work.
Reports indicate that the police arrested Rustam on Friday night in Siliguri and Pratika in Bagrakote, Malbazar. One accused remains absconding. On Saturday, both Rustam and Pratika were presented in the Jalpaiguri court. Authorities believe that the motive behind the murder was related to a love affair.
It is to be noted that, Pushpa Chhetri (25), was found dead with her throat slit in the Lower Bhanu Nagar area under Ward No. 43 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, sending shockwaves throughout the city. Following the incident, Bhakti Nagar police launched an investigation, leading to the arrests of the two suspects.
