Rajganj, 10th January: The residents of Rajganj are terrified after two elephants went on a rampage at the residences of Panchanan Roy and Gopal Roy situated in the Haricharan Vita area of Binnaguri gram panchayat under Rajganj block, on Saturday late night.
Panchanan Roy stated that he heard a sudden noise around 1 am and sighted an elephant standing in the house yard. The elephant destroyed the stored rice and vegetables kept in the kitchen. Another elephant broke the fence in his mother’s room. Besides, two elephants broke the fence of the kitchen at his neighbour Gopal Roy’s house and fled away.
Upon receiving the news, the workers of Ambari Range rushed to the spot. The Forest Department has directed to submit the documents for compensation.
