Siliguri, 21st August: In an unusual turn of events, Siliguri police have successfully arrested two affluent thieves who executed a robbery after arriving by flight. The accused, identified as Saumalya Choudhury from Asansol and Victor Ghosh from Hooghly, were apprehended.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday night in the Hakimpara area, where the thieves stole valuable items, cash, and jewellery from a residence before fleeing the scene. Subsequently, a written complaint was lodged at the Panitanki Outpost, prompting a swift police investigation. Later, the police successfully apprehended the accused duo within 24 hours.
Reportedly, the accused duo had arrived in Siliguri on August 19 and landed at the Bagdogra Airport by flight. They checked into a prominent hotel under the jurisdiction of the Pradhan Nagar police station and planned to execute the robbery.
Following an investigation, the police arrested Saumalya Choudhury and a joint operation conducted by the Pradhan Nagar police and Panitanki Outpost police led to the arrest of Victor Ghosh at the hotel. The stolen items were also recovered during the operation. The two accused are scheduled to be presented in Siliguri Court on the next day. At present, the police are continuing their investigation into the case.
