Two giant pythons of 10 and 12 feet rescued in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri, 06th December: Two giant pythons measuring 10 and 12 feet were rescued near the national highway adjoining Teesta Bridge in Jalpaiguri, creating a stir among locals.

On Friday, environmental activists recovered a dead python from Vivekananda Pally area, suspected to have died after being hit by a vehicle.

On Saturday, two more pythons, measuring 10 and 12 feet, were rescued and handed over to the forest department by wildlife enthusiasts.

Environmental workers believe that the devastating floods in Teesta in October may have washed several pythons from nearby forests into populated areas. They cautioned that more snakes could still be present in the surrounding regions.
