Bagdogra, 28th December: The two-day Ashna Memorial Open Karate Championship 2024 was organized by the Kanchanjunga Shito-Ryu Karate Do Association of Siliguri at Balika Vidhyalaya Higher Secondary School, Upper Bagdogra.
The event witnessed the participation of 300 competitors in the junior category, competing for the titles of best boy and girl fighters. Participants hailed from North Bengal, Nepal, and the neighboring state of Sikkim, adding a diverse touch to the championship.
Poonam Rai, a black belt title holder, stated that the championship aims to further strengthen India-Nepal friendship. She informed that the competition for the below 12 years category would take place on Saturday, while the above 12 years category would be held on Sunday. Winners will be awarded at the conclusion of the event.
