Two-Day Hujur Saheb Mela begins in Haldibari

Jalpaiguri, 19th February: The annual two-day Hujur Saheb Mela commenced in Haldibari on Tuesday.


Held every year on the 4th and 5th of the month of ‘Falgun,’ the fair attracts lakhs of people from different communities who gather to offer incense sticks and candles to Hujur Saheb, making wishes. When their wishes are fulfilled, devotees offer various items in gratitude.

According to reports, Hujur Saheb was a revered figure in Haldibari known for fulfilling people’s wishes. His words were believed to always come true, earning him recognition in the region. After his passing, a shrine was built in his honour, where the fair has been held annually.


This year, the fair began yesterday, drawing large crowds from various places. The police administration has implemented strict security measures, and additional train services have been arranged to accommodate visitors. The administration is working diligently to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
