Naxalbari, 26th September: Torrential rainfall over the last two days has left the Naxalbari severely flooded, affecting local residents in the Roy Para area. Reportedly, the streets are inundated, and the water is seeping into the residences. Students are struggling to navigate through knee-deep water to go to school.
According to reports, nearly 25 families are affected due to the flooding in the region. Locals asserted that the flooding was caused due to inadequate drainage systems, urging the administration to take immediate action.
Naxalbari Gram Panchayat Pradhan Jayanti Kiro stated that there is a lack of resources available to address the issue. The water accumulation was due to the low-land nature of the area. Meanwhile, the Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti, and the block council are trying to find a solution to the issue.
