Siliguri, 23rd January: Two prominent cyber criminals in Siliguri were nabbed by the police’s STF (Special Task Force) for committing malicious activities on digital systems.
According to STF sources, both the detained persons used to steal money from people in various ways including ATM cards. The accused are currently being interrogated. The STF officers, based on a tip-off, conducted an operation in Fulbari area and arrested the two, on Friday. A vehicle has also been seized from their possession. The duo is residents of Haryana and was travelling from Assam towards Siliguri in the said vehicle.
According to STF sources, a number of ATM cards, SIM cards and swipe machines have been recovered from the crooks. However, officials denied commenting any further regarding the investigation. Authorities suspect that the accused siphoned money from the accounts of various people through the recovered items with the help of many others. The STF is on the lookout for more such cyber criminals.
