Siliguri, 29th March: In a political shift ahead of the 2026 elections, two long-time members of the Communist Party of India, Narayan Goswami and Shyamal Basak, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Siliguri.
Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh held a press conference at the BJP’s Organizational District Office on Saturday, where the two leaders officially switched allegiance to the BJP.
To mark the occasion, BJP’s organizational district members in Siliguri welcomed Goswami and Basak into the party by handing them the BJP flag.
The joining program was attended by Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Leader of Opposition Amit Jain, Ward No. 05 Councillor Anita Mahato, Ward No. 04 Councillor Vivek Singh, along with party leaders Raju Saha, Nantu Pal, and others.
