Naxalbari, 11th August: In a major bust, the Naxalbari police arrested two individuals, including a woman, before they could smuggle a significant quantity of brown sugar. The arrested individuals have been identified as Arima Khatun (38) and Mohammad Majirul (40), both residents of Golapganj in Kaliachak, Malda.
According to police sources, the duo arrived at Naxalbari railway station by train from Malda to exchange drugs in Kharibari. Acting on a tip-off, police launched an operation and apprehended the two suspects near the Rathkhola railway gate. During the search, law enforcement recovered 490 grams of brown sugar, and they were arrested.
On Sunday, the suspects were produced in Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. Naxalbari police have initiated a full investigation into the incident. In response, Naxalbari Gram Panchayat Upa-Pradhan Bishwajit Ghosh urged the community to come together to keep Naxalbari drug-free.
