Naxalbari, 26th June: The police arrested two individuals with two sacks of stolen Nepalese betel nuts worth lakhs in Naxalbari. The arrested accused have been identified as Rakesh Das and Amit Das, residents of Banarhat in Jalpaiguri.
Police sources revealed that the sacks of betel nuts were being transported in a four-wheeler from Panitanki. Meanwhile, during a Naka checking at the Satbhaiya area in Naxalbari, the police halted the vehicles and recovered the betel nuts worth lakhs. Subsequently, the accused duo was arrested upon not being able to show any valid documentation pertaining to the betel nuts.
On Wednesday, the accused were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. At present, the incident is under further investigation.
