Two arrested with huge quantity of brown sugar from train at NJP Railway Station

Siliguri, 25th January: The Special Operations Group (SOG) and NJP Government Railway Police (GRP) have successfully conducted an operation and recovered 520 grams of brown sugar.


According to reports, Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) Kunwar Bhushan Singh received a tip-off about the smuggling of brown sugar in a train. Acting on this information, he informed the SOG and GRP, who quickly formed a team to carry out the operation.

When the Down Nagaon Express arrived at NJP railway station, a search was conducted in the general bogie, leading to the arrest of two individuals, identified as Mushtaq Sheikh and Raqib Sheikh, both residents of Kaliachak. A total of brown sugar worth about ₹15 lakh was recovered from their possession.


Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the drugs were being transported from Guwahati to Malda. The accused were sent to Jalpaiguri court on Saturday. The SOG and NJP GRP are continuing their investigation to identify any other individuals involved in the smuggling operation.
