Two arrested with brown sugar worth lakhs in Siliguri

Siliguri, 16th August: In a significant breakthrough, police arrested two individuals with brown sugar worth lakhs in Bagdogra. The arrested accused have been identified as Barsai Kisku (36) and Bandhan Majhi (40), both residents of Darjeeling.


As per reports, the Special Operations Group (SOG), acting on a tip-off, launched a joint operation with the cops of Siliguri Police Station in Bagrakote area. During the operation, the team spotted three individuals standing with a scooty in lane number 20, adjacent to the FCI godown. Reacting swiftly, the team apprehended two individuals, however, one of the accomplice managed to escape.

During the search, police recovered 600 grams of brown sugar cleverly hidden in the storage space of the two-wheeler. The seized drug is estimated to have a market value of lakhs of rupees. Following this, both accused were arrested by the police after registering a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused will be produced before the Siliguri Court on Thursday. Currently, the matter is under further police investigation.
