Siliguri, 22nd March: Acting on a tip-off the SOG and police of NJP police station have arrested two with brown sugar after running a joint operation. The accused have been identified as Vishal Mukhia and Mickey Paswan, both residents of Salugara.
According to police sources, today two people arrived in NJP’s Thakurnagar area carrying brown sugar in a vehicle. On receiving a tip-off about the same, the SOG and NJP police launched an operation and intercepted the said vehicle. While conducting a search, a total of 590 grams of brown sugar was recovered in two packets from the vehicle. The market value of the said drugs has been estimated at Rs 50 lakhs.
After this, the said two people were arrested in the incident and a case was registered against both the accused under the NDPS Act. The police are probing the entire incident.
