Rajganj, 12th November: A team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and New Jalpaiguri police arrested two people with brown sugar worth about Rs 2.5 crore. The arrested have been identified as Naseerul Haque and Arif Sheikh. Both are residents of Malda.
According to police sources, the two suspects were apprehended at the Canal Road area of Fulbari on Friday evening based on a tip-off. After this, the duo was questioned and searched and the illegal drug was recovered from a handbag. About 1 kg 300 grams of brown sugar was seized from their possession. The estimated market value of which is about Rs. 2.5 crores. The accused have been produced in Jalpaiguri district court today. Police are probing the entire incident.
