Siliguri, 05th July: The NJP police arrested two individuals in possession of a firearm and two rounds of ammunition. The accused have been identified as Narayan Mandal and Sanath Barman, residents of Kamranguri and Paschim Dhantala in Fulbari.
Police sources revealed that the duo arrived at the Kashmir Colony area adjacent to NJP on a scooty in order to exchange weapons. Meanwhile, the law enforcement of the NJP police station raided the area on Thursday night based on a tip-off. Upon searching the two-wheeler, the officials recovered the firearm with two rounds of ammunition leading to their subsequent arrest.
Following this, the scooty involved in the incident had also been seized. The arrested duo was presented before the Jalpaiguri Court on Friday. The police are currently probing into the entire incident.
