Siliguri, 27th November: A plan to smuggle cannabis from Cooch Behar to Bihar was foiled after NJP Police arrested two individuals with 29 kg of cannabis from a vehicle.
Police said that late Wednesday night, a tip-off alerted NJP Police that a four-wheeler was transporting a large quantity of cannabis towards Bihar.
Naka checking was set up at Fulbari Murder More, where a suspicious vehicle was intercepted. During the search, 29 kg of cannabis was recovered from a hidden chamber inside the vehicle.
The arrested accused have been identified as Harendra Yadav and Abhishek Rajbhar, both residents of Bihar. During interrogation, they admitted that the consignment was sourced from Cooch Behar for smuggling to Bihar.
The vehicle used in the smuggling attempt has been seized. The duo was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Thursday. Police are investigating the entire incident.
