Two arrested with 16 kilograms of cannabis in Siliguri

Siliguri, 23rd December: The officers of Pradhan Nagar police station successfully thwarted a major narcotics smuggling plan on its way to Kolkata via Siliguri from Cooch Behar. The police arrested two individuals, identified as Somnath Sardar and Subhojit Halder, and seized 16 kilograms of cannabis from them.


According to police sources, the two were traveling from Cooch Behar to Kolkata, where they were supposed to deliver the drugs. On Sunday night, they reached Siliguri and were waiting for a bus at the SDO office when the police, acting on a tip-off, raided the area.

The police found Somnath and Subhojit waiting and suspected foul play. After a thorough search, they found the cannabis hidden in a trolley. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they were in charge of delivering the drugs to Kolkata.


Following their arrest on charges of narcotics trafficking, the two were presented before the Siliguri Court. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
