Two arrested on charges of stealing e-rickshaw in Siliguri

Siliguri, 11th December: In yet another incident of theft, two men have been arrested by the Pradhan Nagar police for stealing an e-rickshaw in Siliguri. The arrested individuals have been identified as Akash Debnath, a resident of Baghajatin Colony, and Abhijit Das, from the NJP area.


According to police sources, the e-rickshaw belonging to Ramdeb Majumdar was stolen from Bidya Chakra Colony in Ward No. 44 on Monday night. Majumdar filed a written complaint at the Bhakti Nagar police station, prompting an investigation. Meanwhile, Pradhan Nagar police apprehended two suspects attempting to sell the stolen e-rickshaw in the Regulated Market area. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing the rickshaw from Bidya Chakra Colony in Ward No. 44, as per the complaint filed at Bhakti Nagar police station.

The Pradhan Nagar police then informed Bhakti Nagar police about the case and handed over the information. Both accused were presented in the Siliguri court on Wednesday.


Ramdeb Majumdar shared that the e-rickshaw was the primary means of livelihood for his family of five. He mentioned that the same rickshaw had been stolen previously, and it had been returned. He thanked the police for their swift action.
