Siliguri, 24th March: An alarming incident occurred prior to the occasion of Holi where two individuals were apprehended for assaulting the police after alcohol consumption and refusing to obey the law. The arrested accused have been identified as Uttam Pal (36) and Rajkumar Das (33), residents of Ward No. 04 of SMC and Matigara, respectively.
As per details received, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police have intensified patrols and security checks in the city until late at night. During a late-night patrol on Saturday, police officers in a mobile van spotted the accused duo allegedly drinking alcohol in a vehicle near Jalpai More. Upon being denied permission to drink alcohol in public, the accused duo engaged in a brawl with the police officers.
Subsequently, the accused duo attempted to push and assault the officials. Following the incident, a huge police force from Siliguri police station arrived at the spot and arrested Uttam Pal and Rajkumar Das. On Sunday, the accused duo was produced before Siliguri Court while further investigation is underway.
