Two arrested on charges of abduction in Siliguri

Siliguri, 14th February: In a significant breakthrough, the cops of Ashighar Outpost, in collaboration with Siliguri police station, rescued an individual who was allegedly abducted by miscreants. The incident led to the arrest of two kidnappers identified as Niladri Talukdar and Subhankar Sarkar.


According to police sources, on Tuesday night, a complaint of abduction of Anil Barman (40) was lodged at the Ashighar Outpost. Following the complaint, the police initiated a detailed investigation.

Subsequently, the police of Ashighar Outpost along with Siliguri Police Station launched an operation and rescued Anil in an area near the college and successfully arrested two kidnappers from the spot. However, a few other miscreants managed to escape.


After being rescued, Anil Barman revealed to the police that, while returning home he was stopped by a few individuals who demanded cannabis, in an area adjoining Swamiji More under the Bhakti Nagar police station. Later, he was forcefully taken to a deserted location and held captive. Simultaneously, the miscreants demanded Rs 2 lakh from his family in return for his release.

On Wednesday, the police of Ashighar Outpost produced both the accused before the Jalpaiguri Court. During this, the police have sought remand for further investigation to apprehend other miscreants involved in the case.
