Siliguri, 01st September: The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Siliguri Metropolitan Police and Bhakti Nagar Police Station arrested two individuals from Salugara market in Sevoke Road on charges of physical assault. The arrested accused have been identified as Rahul Tamang alias Pemba and Arjit Barui.
As per reports, on August 14, Nabarun Dey’s wife was allegedly assaulted by Pemba and his gang in the NJP area. A day after the incident, Nabarun Dey was allegedly assaulted brutally by the same gang near Shastri Nagar Tiranga More, which left him severely injured.
Subsequently, a formal complaint was filed at the police station against Pemba and his gang members. However, the accused had been absconding. On Thursday night, the SOG and Bhakti Nagar police arrested Rahul Tamang (Pemba) and his accomplice Arijit Barui. Today, both the accused have been produced before the Jalpaiguri court.
