Siliguri, 17th September: In a shocking turn of events, the owner and an employee of a medicine store, identified as Kanchan Chakraborty (45) and Saurav Saha (27) respectively, were accused for assaulting a retired CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) Jawan for demanding a bill.
As per information, the retired CRPF Jawan named as Swapan Ghosh (52), a resident of Hooghly, currently lives in Deshbandhu Para area of Siliguri along with his wife and children. Last month, on August 20, Swapan sent his mother-in-law along with his elder son to a medicine shop, named Kalyan Medical Hall, located at Gopal More to consult a doctor. There, the Jawan’s mother was provided with saline and medicines without a proper bill. Later, Swapan Ghosh arrived at the medical store to get the bill.
Subsequently, as Swapan asked for the proper bill, the medicine shop refused to provide the same. Meanwhile, an arguement broke out, following which, Swapan was called near the godown behind the store and was allegedly attacked. The attack left Swapan injured.
The onlookers rushed to scene and rescued Swapan Ghosh and took him to a Hospital.
After receiving medical care, Swapan Ghosh lodged a formal complaint at Siliguri police station on Setember 15. Based on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and arrested both the owner and employee of the store. On Sunday, the duo were produced before the Siliguri Court for legal proceedings.
