Two arrested, including Bangladeshi infiltrator, in Fulbari

Siliguri, 24th January: In a recent development, the officials of NJP police station arrested a Bangladeshi infiltrator and a resident of Kaliaganj from Amaidighi in Fulbari. The arrested Bangladeshi infiltrator has been identified as Ataur Rahman.


Reports suggest that Bipul Adhikari, a resident of Haldibari, assisted the Bangladeshi national in entering India. Ataur’s relative, Ferdous Alam, reached Haldibari to escort him to Kaliaganj. On Thursday, the three individuals departed for Kaliaganj in a four-wheeler. Acting on a tip-off, the police of NJP police station set up a trap in the Amaidighi area.

The vehicle was intercepted as it entered the Amaidighi region, and upon interrogation, inconsistencies were found in the suspects’ statements. During this time, Bipul Adhikari managed to escape. However, Ataur Rahman, the Bangladeshi national, and Ferdous Alam, a resident of Kaliaganj, were arrested.


The two individuals have been sent to the Jalpaiguri court on Friday. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
