Siliguri, 05th April: In a significant breakthrough in the school teacher assault case in Siliguri, the Ashighar Outpost police have arrested two youths within 24 hours. The arrested accused are Abhijit Singha (Deba) and his brother Mrinal Singha.
Earlier, on Wednesday, DJ music was being played till late night at a programme in Panchanan Road area of Ward No. 36 under Ashighar Outpost. During this, Abhijit Sarkar, a school teacher had objected to the loud music. However, he was allegedly assaulted by a few youths. Later, the locals rushed to the rescue and admitted the injured teacher to the district hospital.
After the incident, a written complaint was filed by the teacher at the Ashighar Outpost. Significantly, within 24 hours of the complaint, the police arrested two accused in connection to the case. On Friday, both the accused have been presented before the Jalpaiguri court.
