Naxalbari, 21st February: Two persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a minor in the tea garden area under Maniram Gram Panchayat of Naxalbari.
According to sources, the incident came to light recently after the minor’s family became aware of the matter. The family lodged a written complaint at Naxalbari Police Station the same night, demanding strict action against the accused.
Acting on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and arrested two accused, identified as Dinesh Chik Baraik and Roman Oraon, both residents of Naxalbari. The arrested individuals were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court.
Meanwhile, the minor has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for medical examination as part of the investigation process.
