Two arrested in connection with BJP-TMC clash in Matigara

Siliguri, 29th April: The Matigara police have arrested two accused in connection with the Trinamool Congress (TMC)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unrest in Matigara. The arrested accused have been identified as Nitesh Singh and Abdul Ali.


It has to be noted that a dispute emerged between the TMC and the BJP on Sunday over the slogan of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in an area under Matigara Anchal II. The dispute escalated into a violent scuffle. In this regard, the BJP alleged that a few people associated with the TMC attacked them with sharp weapons causing injuries to several workers.

Later, a complaint was filed against the accused in the police station on behalf of the BJP. Reportedly, while investigating the incident, the Matigara police arrested the two accused. On Monday, both the accused have been produced before the Siliguri court.
