Siliguri, 26th August: Two individuals, including a former civic volunteer, were arrested following a clash during a birthday party at a shopping mall under Matigara police station. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ujjwal Mandal, a former civic volunteer from Matigara Government Colony, and Dhiraj Rajak from Panchanan Colony in Matigara.
As per reports, the incident occurred on the night of August 21 when a man named Rohit Pathak was celebrating his birthday at the mall. During the party, which included several girls, an argument reportedly broke out after lewd comments were made, leading to a physical altercation. It is alleged that bouncers were also called in to escalate the situation.
Following the incident, Rohit Pathak filed a written complaint at Matigara police station on August 22. Acting on the complaint, the police apprehended Ujjwal and Dhiraj at the mall on Sunday night. Both accused were presented in the Siliguri court on Monday.
The police are currently investigating the case and are reviewing CCTV footage from the mall to gather more evidence.
