Two arrested for duping people with fake job promise in Siliguri

Siliguri, 17th February: Two individuals have been arrested for cheating people by demanding money for offering jobs in Siliguri. It has been alleged that in 2008, both the accused had collected a total amount of 20 lakh rupees from many individuals and duped people with fake job promise in the Military Engineer Services (MES).


Based on the complaint lodged by the said victims, the Pradhan Nagar Police started investigating into the incident. Later, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) was entrusted with the investigation of the incident. The CID succeeded in arresting one person involved in the case.

After interrogation, another accused identified as Ratan Jana, a resident of Kantai in Purba Medinipur District, was arrested from Dum Dum, on February 10. According to CID sources, the accused stated that they had taken an amount of 2-3 lakh rupees from some individuals in exchange for job promise in the MES.
