Siliguri, 23rd November: An unusual incident of theft surfaced from an area under the Bhakti Nagar Police station where two frauds posing as customers fled with a bike on the pretext of a test ride. However, the miscreants were arrested within a few hours. The arrested accused have been identified as Shanshak Chakraborty, a resident of Majhabari, and Prakash Shikdar is from Chayan Para.
According to reports, Rehan Thapa, a resident of the Sahid Nagar area of Ward No. 43 under Bhakti Nagar police station, uploaded pictures of his bike on the social site to sell. Following this, on November 19, Shanshak and Prakash contacted Rehan and arrived at Rehan’s residence to check the two-wheeler. Upon arrival, the duo planned for a test ride and absconded with his bike.
After the incident, Rehan filed a written complaint of bike theft at Bhakti Nagar police station. Based on the complaint, Bhakti Nagar police initiated an investigation. During the course of the investigation, Shanshak and Prakash were arrested with the stolen bike within a few hours. On Thursday, both the accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court after registering cases under fraud and theft. At present, the police are engaged in further investigation.
