Siliguri, 23rd August: Based on a tip-off, the DRI, on Saturday night, launched operations at the NJP station and arrested two men along with 1.992 kg of gold. The arrested have been identified as Yogesh Shani (25) and Mangi Lal (45), residents of Rajasthan.
According to DRI sources, the duo was on their way to Delhi from Guwahati on the Brahmaputra Mail. Twelve gold bars weighing 166 grams each were recovered from their possession. Three gold bars were tied to their legs at a time.
When the arrested individuals were produced before the Siliguri court today, they have been taken into five-day jail custody. They are likely to be produced in the court again on August 28.
