Siliguri, 06th April: Under the joint operation of the SOG and the undercover cops of Matigara police station, arrested three people with brown sugar. Reportedly, the trio is said to consist of a couple and their 20-year-old daughter.
The accused have been identified as MD Hakimuddin (50), Khateja Nesha alias Kamija (45) and Najara Begum (20). According to information received from police sources, all three are residents of Vishwas Colony under Matigara. Also, the couple has a one and a half year old daughter. All three had reached Siliguri for smuggling brown sugar. The team of SOG and undercover cops of Matigara police station recovered brown sugar from inside the bag of mother and daughter by running a campaign near Chandmuni Hospital line of Ward No. 47 under Matigara police station. The plan was to smuggle the said brown sugar brought from Chopra to Siliguri.
At present, the three accused have been arrested by registering a case under the NDPS Act. MD Hakimuddin and Khateja Nesha have been jailed several times in the past for drug trafficking. At the same time, on the coming Friday, all the three accused will be presented in the Siliguri court.
