Trinamool accused for assaulting BJP worker in Siliguri, complaint filed at police station

Siliguri, 08th June: In a recent development, a BJP worker, Asit Pal, has accused Trinamool members of assaulting him in front of his house in Ward No. 39 of Siliguri. Pal sustained injuries during the incident, prompting a complaint to be lodged with the police.

According to reports, Pal received a call on Friday night, summoning him to Subhash Pally, which he declined. Later, upon closing his shop, he was allegedly attacked by several individuals in front of his residence, resulting in injuries. The assailants fled upon hearing screams, and Pal was subsequently admitted to Siliguri District Hospital.

Pal claimed the attack was politically motivated due to his affiliation with the BJP. He specifically named Trinamool leader Surjit Ghosh as the perpetrator, alleging attempts to coerce him into joining the Trinamool party.

BJP leaders, including MLA Shikha Chatterjee, filed a written complaint at the Bhakti Nagar police station on Saturday and staged a demonstration in protest. Chatterjee condemned the assault, denouncing it as an attack on democratic rights.

Meanwhile, Surjit Ghosh denied any knowledge of the incident, pledging to investigate further. The Bhakti Nagar police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
